The Laketown Squadron, the New Orleans Pelicans’ G League affiliate that relocated to Kenner for this season, now have an official start date. The NBA announced the schedule for all the G League teams Friday. The Squadron begin their inaugural season on Nov. 8 on the road against the Austin Spurs, affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs. The Squadron will make their home debut six days later when they host the Mexico City Capitanes on Nov. 14 at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.

Pelicans make a long-awaited roster move, agree to deal with former No. 6 overall pick

In what has been an offseason with very few roster moves, the New Orleans Pelicans are finally making one. The Pelicans have agreed to a deal with shooting guard Bennedict Mathurin, a source confirmed to The Times-Picayune on Wednesday. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, it will be a two-year deal worth $16 million with a player option for the second year.
