Abstract Histidine-rich protein 2/3 (PfHRP2/3)-based rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are essential for detecting Plasmodium falciparum, particularly in settings with limited microscopy services. However, deletions of the pfhrp2/3 genes can lead to false-negative results, compromising accurate diagnosis and treatment. This study investigates the prevalence of Pfhrp2/3 gene deletions among false RDT-negative malaria cases across five Nigerian states.
