Book Review: Feeling Better: Beat Depression and Improve Your Relationships
Book author: Cindy Goodman Stulberg, DCS, CPsych, and Ronald J. Frey, PhD, C Psych Reviewed by: Claire Nana Last updated: 20 Mar 2019 ~ 3 min read There are many ways we can try to feel better. We can try to improve the way we think. We can try to make more money. Have more stability. Get a better job. But all of these things, say Cindy Goodman Stulberg and Richard Frey, are red herrings. “We want to let you in on a little secret,” they write.
Four Problem Areas That Could Be Bringing You Down
For years, the first line of defense for depression has been pharmaceuticals, but in their new book Feeling Better: Beat Depression and Improve Your Relationships with Interpersonal Psychotherapy (New World Library, November 20, 2018), psychologists and authors Cindy Goodman Stulberg and Ronald J. (Of course, not changing is also a choice, with its own set of consequences.) Think of a closed vessel that is continually heated. Eventually the pressure will build up and cause the vessel to explode. If the vessel is vented, however, when the pressure gets too great, steam or gas can escape a little at a time and keep an explosion from happening (we are grateful for the safety vents on our hot-water heaters and pressure cookers!). Explosions are messy, and sometimes people get hurt. Better to let off some steam in a safe and controlled way than blow your top all at once.
There May Be a Lot More to Your Anger Than You Think
Every one of us has a need to feel loved, cared for, and connected to others, but there isn’t a single person on earth who wakes up every day feeling happy — not even Oprah. Life isn’t a chick flick, where the girl always gets the guy and everyone lives happily ever after. In real life, we experience triumph and also defeat, joy and also sorrow, delight and also disappointment. If we never felt sad, how would we know how great happiness feels?
Automatic Exchange of Information and the competitive advantages of good Client Data Management
Financial institutions are exposed to a greater regulatory pressure on the part of various national and international authorities, especially from Europe and the USA. The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEoI), MiFID II or the Dodd-Frank-Act (DFA) are just some examples of regulations that a bank has to comply with.
