So devolves America in its 250th year from a light unto the world into a military empire, and a vicious one at that. President Trump, untrammeled by morality or Constitution, kidnapped Venezuela's president and his wife and took charge of that country's oil reserves. The fentanyl charge was bogus; most of it enters America via Mexico. He has made undeclared war on Iran through lies similar to the ones America used to crush Iraq while Congress licks his shoes.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but he proves that even lackwits can make it to the big time if they whistle the right tune. The Black National Anthem was played at the Super Bowl and the half-time was entirely in Spanish, truly unifying performances bringing us together. Roger favors a sort of e pluribus pluribus: out of many, many. Ross Nelson lives in Casselton, N.D.

His latest position, perhaps from seeing that most North Dakota children are already well-fed, has hence morphed from feeding hungry kids to obliging them to eat more healthily.
