Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop through the afternoon and evening. Storm coverage will be higher than what we have seen over the last few days, but rainfall will still be hit-or-miss. Any storm that develops could produce frequent lightning, heavy downpours, and gusty winds. A few stronger storms may produce wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph. Another round of storms could move across Eastern NC overnight, possibly in a line moving from west to east.

We remain locked into a very July-like pattern: hot, humid, and stormy at times. The heat is still a concern through the evening, with feels-like temperatures running near heat advisory levels in many inland communities. Overnight will not bring much relief, with lows only dropping into the middle and upper 70s inland and near 80 along the coast. The pattern turns more active Monday and Tuesday.

Rain is out on Monday, then the skies become partly cloudy throughout the day. A stray shower is possible early. Temperatures will be in the 80s, but some areas could see a 90° high. Thanks to the northerly wind flow, it will feel slightly “comfortable” in the afternoon. More of the same is in the cards for Tuesday. Changes arrive midweek through the weekend, with dangerous heat and high humidity files in across ENC. Thanks to an area of high pressure remaining, with limited to no rain.
