Olathe native Darren Sproles to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame
Darren Sproles will be able to bask in front of an adoring crowd in Kansas once more. Sproles, an Olathe native who became one of the greatest players in Kansas State football’s history, will be recognized Saturday for his selection into the College Football Hall of Fame. The on-field recognition will occur during the first quarter of K-State’s game against No. 6 Oklahoma at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

I’m a man who believed that I died twenty years ago, and I live like a man who is dead already. — Malcolm X The still eyes of Malcolm X, stilled by an f-stop and shutter. Winter, 1965. Malcolm is leaving a car, gelatin-silver print, portrait of a tenant of fire.
Quote Roundup: K-State's Bruce Weber, Barry Brown and Dean Wade reflect on Big 12 title-clinching win
Following Saturday's 68-53 victory over Oklahoma at Bramlage Coliseum, Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber, senior guard Barry Brown and senior forward Dean Wade met with media members. The win in the home finale gave the Wildcats a share of the Big 12 regular-season championship, and they enter this week's conference tournament as the No. 1 seed. A selected portion of the trio's comments following Saturday's victory are included below.
Watch: K-State sends off senior trio with stirring video
Kansas State honored the senior trio of Barry Brown, Kamau Stokes and Dean Wade Saturday night in a pregame ceremony at Bramlage Coliseum. But before the three walked out of the tunnel flanked by their families, the Wildcats played a highlight video, narrated by former K-State player (and now graduate assistant) Shane Southwell. Afterward, head coach Bruce Weber said he couldn't contain his emotions.
K-State star Dean Wade 'questionable' for Big 12 tournament
The Dean Wade injury watch is back on. Wade, Kansas State's star senior forward, will be listed as "questionable" for this week's Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, Missouri. The news came in an official release from K-State on Sunday. Per the release, head coach Bruce Weber said Wade experienced "discomfort in his foot" following Saturday's win over Oklahoma, which helped the Wildcats claim a share of the Big 12 regular-season championship and earn the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament.
K-State romps past Oklahoma, claims share of Big 12 regular-season title
Kansas State entered Saturday with determination. Determined to close the regular season on a high note. Determined to send its storied senior class off with a win in its final game at Bramlage Coliseum. And determined to capture its first Big 12 title in six years. Check. Check. Check. K-State overcame a first-half thrust from Oklahoma to win in a rout, obliterating the visitors 68-53.
Isaiah Zuber, K-State's leading returning WR, to miss spring practice
Isaiah Zuber won't have an opportunity to showcase his on-field skills this spring. Zuber, a rising fifth-year senior receiver, will sit out the Wildcats' 15 spring practice sessions as he continues to recover from offseason hip surgery. "He’s off the crutches," first-year K-State head coach Chris Klieman said Friday. "He’s been off them for a couple weeks. He’s been doing a lot of great rehabilitation.

Wildcats say they're not feeling the pressure with title on the line
Bruce Weber believes outsiders place an inordinate amount of attention on a team’s final regular-season game. Weber, in his seventh season as Kansas State’s men’s basketball coach, said he knows that is the case heading into his team’s home finale versus Oklahoma at 5 p.m. Saturday. But for the Wildcats, it’s more than just senior night: a Big 12 regular-season title is up for grabs. Forget about “added pressure,” though.

K-State men's basketball signee DaJuan Gordon named city of Chicago's POY
DaJuan Gordon will arrive in Manhattan later this year with a prestigious title to his name: the best player in the city of Chicago. The Chicago Sun-Times awarded Gordon, a signee in Kansas State men's basketball's 2019 class, the lofty honor Thursday. Gordon joins a storied list of previous winners, including Isiah Thomas (1979), Kevin Garnett (1995), Derrick Rose (2007), Jabari Parker (2012), Jahlil Okafor (2013) and Jalen Bruson (2015).
Bruce Weber: Injured K-State guard Cartier Diarra 'cleared to do a little bit'
Cartier Diarra's injured left hand is feeling better. But Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber said he doesn't expect Diarra's recovery timeline to change. "Carti, he’s cleared to do a little bit, 5-on-0, really controlled stuff, probably for another few days just to see how he reacts to it," Weber said Thursday.
Notebook: K-State's Barry Brown gets back on track; Wildcats tie another school record
FORT WORTH, Texas — Barry Brown was struggling. Again. Brown, a senior guard who has carried Kansas State for much of the season, had just four points at halftime of Monday’s game at TCU. His opening 20 minutes against the Horned Frogs followed up his recent shaky play offensively. In K-State’s two previous games — at Kansas on Feb.
K-State football changing spring game format
Kansas State football’s spring game is undergoing an overhaul. Instead of a traditional game, the Wildcats will use their final spring workout to hold an “interactive practice” on April 13 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Fans will be able to watch drills, hear from first-year head coach Chris Klieman and his coaching staff and participate in other events in the concourse area of the stadium.
No. 16 K-State holds off Baylor 66-60
Kansas State had to win Saturday night against Baylor to keep pace with Texas Tech. With Barry Brown uncharacteristically struggling for the second time in as many games, his two senior classmates — forward Dean Wade and fellow guard Kamau Stokes— picked up the slack. Wade and Stokes combined for 36 points to lift the No. 16 Wildcats to a 66-60 win over the Bears at Bramlage Coliseum. “We just moved the ball well," Wade said.
What They Said: Baylor coach Scott Drew says 'I'll be glad' when K-State's senior trio graduates
Following Saturday's 66-60 loss to No. 16 Kansas State at Bramlage Coliseum, Baylor head coach Scott Drew met with media members. His comments are included below. SCOTT DREW, BAYLOR HEAD COACH Opening Statement... “For 19 turnovers, to have a chance down the stretch, credit our guys for not giving up, or when (K-State) got that lead. They kept playing and kept fighting. At the end of the day, you really have to credit K-State. I thought Dean (Wade) was tremendous.
K-State's Bruce Weber hopes Cartier Diarra back by Big 12 Tournament
Bruce Weber tried to temper the excitement Thursday. But Weber, Kansas State’s head coach, said injured guard Cartier Diarra is drawing ever closer to earning a clean bill of health. “He can condition now,” Weber said. “He can jump. He can run.
Jeff Mittie's candidness helps K-State cut through clutter of NCAA Tournament talk
College athletes aren’t ensconced in a bubble. Particularly those in three of the most high-profile sports: football and men’s and women’s basketball. All three, given their status and the playoff formats in each, are constantly bombarded by those around them. Parents. Aunts. Uncles. Friends. All want to know whether their son or daughter, their cousin or classmate, will play in the postseason. Fans discuss it on social media. Sometimes, those supporters will reach out to the players with encouragement.
K-State falls at Kansas 64-49
LAWRENCE — Kansas State might end Kansas’ run of 14 consecutive Big 12 regular-season titles next month. But the No. 15 Jayhawks refuse to give it away, adding to the Wildcats’ 13 years of misery at Allen Fieldhouse on Monday. Tied at 15-all with 8:28 remaining in the first half, star senior forward Dean Wade was whistled for his second personal foul. Glued to the bench the remainder of the half, the Jayhawks surged ahead, taking a 34-27 lead into the locker room.
Did Barry Brown's dunk provide more motivation for Kansas on Monday?
LAWRENCE — As the final seconds ticked off the clock, and a seven-point victory over in-state rival Kansas well in hand on Feb. 5, Kansas State senior Barry Brown wasn't satisfied. Taking a pass from Xavier Sneed just beyond the 3-point arc and no one in front of him, Brown dashed toward the rim and threw down a one-handed dunk. Brown's teammates mobbed him under the basket in jubilation, with the Bramlage Coliseum crowd roaring its approval. It didn't count. But it didn't matter to Brown.
K-State tries to snap losing skid at Allen Fieldhouse
It’s been more than a dozen years since Kansas State last won at Allen Fieldhouse. To snap that streak Monday — in a game that tips off at 8 p.m. and will air nationally on ESPN as part of its “Big Monday” programming — K-State head coach Bruce Weber said the game plan isn’t difficult. In his mind, the Wildcats have to do three things to win: be exact, be disciplined and play with confidence. But Weber is well-aware that’s easier said than done. “You cannot be on your heels,” Weber said.
K-State's maturity on display in obliteration of Oklahoma State
In previous seasons, Dean Wade isn't sure Kansas State could have performed like it did Saturday. Entering the game against Oklahoma State, K-State was at the top of the Big 12 standings. The Cowboys, on the other hand, were ninth in the 10-team league. But the No. 23 Wildcats did exactly as they were supposed to, pouncing on the visitors from the get-go and never letting up on the way to an 85-46 victory at Bramlage Coliseum. It serves as proof, Wade said, that K-State is a mature team.
K-State trounces Oklahoma State on throwback day 85-46
Kansas State played Goliath to Oklahoma State's David on Saturday. This time, David had no (sling)shot. Celebrating throwback day at Bramlage Coliseum, the No. 23 Wildcats jumped on the hapless Cowboys early and never let up en route to a 85-46 victory. So lopsided was the contest that K-State head coach Bruce Weber had his starting five off the floor with 8:28 to play. At that point, the Wildcats led 68-33.
K-State to wear lavenders again Saturday
The lavenders are back. For the first time this season, Kansas State will break out its throwback lavender uniforms for Saturday’s game against Oklahoma State at Bramlage Coliseum. “It’s been a long time,” junior guard Xavier Sneed said. “I wish we could wear them some more, but it's definitely going to be exciting to play in the lavenders again.” K-State, which used the uniforms three times last season, posted a 3-0 record in the lavender threads.
K-State's Dean Wade slowed by another injury
Dean Wade’s short-term future is murky. Wade, Kansas State’s star senior forward, left Saturday’s loss to Iowa State in the second half with another foot injury. Head coach Bruce Weber said he isn’t sure when Wade will return. “He’s been good,” Weber said. “All we can do is hope and pray for him. I don’t know if he’ll be (available) Monday, but definitely, hopefully by next week.” Wade exited Saturday’s game at the 9:18 mark of the second half. He didn’t return.
K-State's Big 12 win streak snapped by Iowa State
Kansas State lost its win streak. And it might have lost one of its best players — again. A 3-point barrage from Iowa State finally brought K-State’s winning ways in the Big 12 to a close, downing the Wildcats 78-64 at Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday. “You have to give credit to them,” K-State head coach. “They are good. We knew they were good. It is no excuse, but they lost last week and they had a week off and we played two road games between then and it caught up with us.
K-State's Bruce Weber hopeful injured guard Cartier Diarra will be back this season
Cartier Diarra might return to the floor for Kansas State before the season concludes. Diarra, a third-year sophomore guard, had surgery on his hand Tuesday. And head coach Bruce Weber said Thursday he’s hopeful Diarra will be back in the fold next month.
Bruce Weber: K-State guard Cartier Diarra's injury 'a freak accident'
AUSTIN, Texas — Cartier Diarra's injury blindsided Kansas State. Following K-State's 71-64 win at Texas on Tuesday, head coach Bruce Weber provided more insight surrounding Diarra's hand injury. "It was just a freak accident," Weber said. "It just sucks. It sucks for him. It's sad, it's really sad. But it is what it is." Diarra, who had surgery on the hand Tuesday, did not travel with the team for the victory at the Erwin Center.
K-State's Cartier Diarra out indefinitely with hand injury
Kansas State will be without one of its key players for an unknown period of time. Third-year sophomore guard Cartier Diarra, who has provided highlight-reel plays in the final minutes of the Wildcats’ past two games, sustained a hand injury that will require surgery. When he’ll return is uncertain. “Obviously I’m disappointed for Cartier and his family,” K-State head coach Bruce Weber said in a release.
K-State ready for revenge against Texas
Kamau Stokes wasn’t just physically hurt Jan. 2. He was pained mentally and emotionally, too. A senior guard for Kansas State, Stokes was sidelined with a foot injury, forcing him to miss the game against Texas that day in the Big 12 opener for both teams. The absence of Stokes, the team’s best shooter and leading passer, was conspicuous. The Longhorns rolled over the Wildcats, 67-47, handing them both their most lopsided loss of the season and their only setback at Bramlage Coliseum.
K-State hires Buddy Wyatt as defensive ends coach
Kansas State has found Blake Seiler's replacement. K-State head coach Chris Klieman hired Buddy Wyatt to coach the team's defensive ends, the program announced Friday. Wyatt is a 27-year coaching veteran with multiple stops in the Big 12 and stints in the SEC, Big Ten and AAC. He spent the 2018 season as a senior analyst at Kansas. Seiler was hired to coach West Virginia's linebackers on Tuesday.
