Tech Transcripts: The Franklin Era Begins
Back Article Ryan Castle·September 6, 2026 On Saturday night, Virginia Tech did exactly what they were supposed to do on the field against VMI. The Hokies entered the game as 50+ point favorites, and Bill Connelly's SP+ rankings ranked the Keydets 405th in college football, behind several Division II and III teams. The talent gap was clear from the opening snap, and the Hokies dominated VMI for 60 minutes.
Hokies in the NFL: Checking in on Training Camp
Former Hokies RB Bhayshul Tuten at Jaguars Practice Training camps are officially underway for both college and NFL teams across the country, and with NFL Preseason games getting into full swing this weekend, let’s take a look at how some former Hokies are doing in the league and what their teammates and coaches are saying about them! Safety Chuck Clark is now suiting up for his third team in as many years after playing six seasons with the Baltimore Ravens to start his career.
Tech Transcripts Vol. 6: An Eventful Spring Game Delivers Hope and Insight
photo by Will Trent James Franklin and the entire Virginia Tech football program wanted everything to be perfect for Spring Game weekend. They had pushed fans and students to pack the stadium and crafted a format designed to keep fans in the stands the whole game. Virginia Tech even got the often-fickle Southwest Virginia weather to cooperate, with a beautiful sunny day gracing the New River Valley.
2026 Tech Transcripts, Vol. 5: Scrimmage Standouts Reshape Position Battles
Defensive Coordinator Brent Pry working with the linebackers There’s no substitute for game reps. Until you see players under the lights in a true firefight against another team, fully evaluating them can be difficult. Unfortunately, there are no joint practices or scrimmages in college football, so the best coaches can do during the spring is scrimmage each other.
Tech Transcripts: Things Get Real as the Pads Come On
Offensive Coordinator Ty Howle Oversees Ball Security Drill Hearing pads popping is a top 5 sound in the world. Coach Franklin LOVED this rep from TE Ja’Ricous Hairston. pic.twitter.com/eySHbvIILE — Sons of Saturday Virginia Tech (@SonsofSatVT) March 24, 2026 As a former collegiate offensive lineman, I sometimes found the first few days of practice during spring or fall camp a little boring.
2026 Hokies Spring Football Notebook: Defense Dominates an Intense Practice
For the first, and probably only time this season, members of the media were granted access to a full Virginia Tech Practice. It was a unique opportunity to see how James Franklin and his staff are not only shaping this season’s roster, but the overall culture of the program. Thursday’s practice was intense, competitive, and efficient. The coaching staff refused to waste any moment of the Hokies’ precious time on the practice field.
2026 VT Football Notebook: Takeaways from the Staff Press Conference
via hokiesports.com Every time I think a James Franklin press conference can't get any better, somehow it does. On Tuesday, Hokie Nation got its first glimpse at the totality of the program Franklin is building. Everything from the infrastructure, to the roster, to the coaching staff was on full display. Obviously, Franklin and his staff are still in the honeymoon phase, where everything is amazing and they can do no wrong. The product on the field come the Fall could change that in a hurry.
The James Franklin Era Begins: How the Hokies Went All In and Got…
The moment we’ve all been waiting for. James Franklin’s first words as Head Coach of the Hokies. pic.twitter.com/HEkgZzf8UQ — Sons of Saturday Podcast (@SonsofSatVT) November 19, 2025 When Brent Pry was fired back on September 14th following a 0-3 start to the season, it was clear the issues within the program reached far higher and farther than the man sitting in the Head Coach chair. Virginia Tech had clearly fallen behind the pack in the modern era of college football.
A New Era: Hokies Football Finalizing Deal with James Franklin
Editor's Note: Contributions for this article from Ryan Castle and Thomas Disharoon The Hokies Got Their Guy: James Franklin Set to Lead Virginia Tech Football The Hokies have officially entered a new era — and this one comes with genuine excitement buzzing around Blacksburg. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Monday afternoon that Virginia Tech is finalizing a deal to hire James Franklin as the program’s next head football coach.
2025 VT Football Notebook: Hokies Deliver Another 'Enter Sandman'…
I've been going to Virginia Tech games since 2002 when I was three months old. I have witnessed some of the highest highs of the program, and the lowest lows. Many of those lows have come over the past few seasons. The heartbreaking disappointment at Vanderbilt to open last season after having such high expectations. The horrific call to lose the Miami game. The drubbing at the hands of ODU just over a month ago.
2025 Hokie Football Notebook: Wake Forest Capitalizes on Hokie Hiccups
Games like Homecoming and Senior Day are special moments for players, coaches, fans. They are usually your most attended games of the season, and come with a lot of pomp and circumstance. They also come with numerous distractions. The pregame and halftime procedures are different. The gameday rhythm you had built all season has now been thrown off. Former players are coming back, reminding players of the expectations they face.
2025 Hokie Football Notebook: Hokies Win, but Transfer Decisions Loom…
“If you wanna leave, leave!” Last week, after Brent Pry was let go after a 0-3 start, team captain Kelvin Gilliam got up during a team meeting, opened the door, and delivered that message. Gilliam said the Hokies needed to come together and unite behind Interim Head Coach Philip Montgomery. Montgomery was Gilliam's preferred choice over JC Price and Fontel Mines, who some fans wanted to see lead the team through the rest of the season.
Brent Pry Fired Following Loss to ODU, Montgomery Named Interim
That news was later made official by Virginia Tech. Pry went 16-24 through four seasons in Blacksburg. He took over the program in 2022 from Justin Fuente and began a massive rebuild. After a disappointing 3-8 record in his first season, Pry turned things around with a 7-6 year in 2023. Unfortunately, the Hokies were unable to build off that success and roster full of returning players. Tech would go 6-7, with a loss to Minnesota in the Duke's Mayo Bowl.
2025 VT Game Notebook: Two-Faced Hokies Become the Villain
“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight is one of my all-time favorite movies. Most people remember this installment of Batman’s lore for Heath Ledger’s unforgettable performance as the Joker, and rightly so. It is one of the best acting jobs ever put on film. With that being said, I always felt like Aaron Eckhart’s role as Harvey Dent was criminally underrated.
2025 Fall Camp Notebook: Defense Shines Against A Hobbled Offense
Sons of Saturday was back out at Hokies practice today to check in on the team just 18 days before they line it up against now 13th ranked South Carolina. Here's some of the biggest takeaways from our limited time on the field and our post-practice conversations with Coach Brent Pry, OL Montavious Cunningham, and DL Kody Huisman. Defense shines in competitive drills For the first time this season, we got to see some competition during practice, with the WRs and DBs squaring off in 1-on-1's.
Hokies in the NFL: Keeping Up with the Rookies
Week 1 of the NFL Preseason is in the books and some former Hokies are already making waves with their new teams. Virginia Tech had 7 rookies suit up this weekend for their pro debut, so let's take a look at their performances and the impression they're making on their new coaches and teammates. Before we get into those guys, there are two former Hokies that did not see action in Week 1.
2025 Fall Camp Notebook: Staff Focusing on Confident, Situational…
Last week, Defensive Line Coach JC Price told us he doesn’t count the practices until the pads come on. Well, on Wednesday, fall camp got real for the Hokies as they suited up in full gear for the first time. MINI CAMP ✌️#ThisIsHome | #TeamOverMe pic.twitter.com/zyexvvMZYg — Virginia Tech Football (@HokiesFB) August 6, 2025 Before the Hokies took the field, Sons of Saturday attended the program’s annual Media Day.
2025 Fall Camp Notebook: Defense Looks Bigger, Faster, Stronger
For the first time this fall, the media got to lay their eyes on the 2025 Virginia Tech Hokies football team. It was a limited look, as we mostly watched individual drills, and the session unfortunately ended right before competitive drills began. While there’s only so much you can take away from a brief shot of practice this early in camp, there are some early takeaways about how this year’s Hokie squad is shaping up.
2025 Fall Camp Notebook: Drones Shines on First Day of Camp
It was not the beginning to Fall Camp that Brent Pry was expecting, but after a slow start to the first practice of the season, Pry says the “energy was way better the second half of practice”. Coach Pry and the Hokies will try to get off to a better start to the season with a pair of SEC opponents to open the year. To try and turn the tide after a disappointing 6-7 season, Pry brings in two new coordinators and reinforcements from the high school ranks and the transfer portal.
2025 Sons of Saturday ACC Preseason Poll
This week, the Atlantic Coast Conference’s finest traveled to Charlotte for the media days, signaling that football is just around the corner. In less than a month, Stanford will kick off the conference’s season when they travels to Hawaii, a game where the Cardinal are actually 1.5 point undersdogs to the Rainbow Warriors. Just like every conference in this new era of college football, the ACC is filled with change and turnover.
A Vinyl Remaster Of Wolfmother’s 2005 Debut Does Well To Slow Their Ongoing Fade
THE DERIVATIVE 2000s HARD ROCKERS FROM DOWN UNDER HAVE NEVER SOUNDED BETTER — FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH The Late Show is dead. Long live The Late Show. Last week, CBS announced that its flagship late-night show — launched by David Letterman in 1993 after his departure from NBC’s Late Night, and hosted by Stephen Colbert since 2015 — will end by May of next year. Not just Colbert’s version, which was never quite my bag, but the whole damn thing.
Metallica in Blacksburg: 25 Years of Jumping
Dotting the "i" at Ohio State, “Rocky Top” at Tennessee, the Sooner Schooner at Oklahoma. These traditions, and hundreds more across the country, define college football. And the best traditions, the ones most engrained in the identities of their fans, are the ones that start by accident. Almost 25 years ago, a new tradition began on a rainy night in August…sort of. Virginia Tech was taking on Georgia Tech to open the 2000 season.

What distinguishes Realtors from those who simply hold a license to sell real estate is a commitment to the Realtor Code of Ethics, anchored in a calling to help our community.

The role of a REALTOR® in a lopsided market - Boston Agent Magazine
The role of a REALTOR® in a lopsided market by Boston Agent July 06, 2021 By Ryan Castle, CEO, Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors While a lot has been written about the exploding markets as to the new demand from those looking for respite and refuge across Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, not a lot of focus has been on the lack of inventory — which is sellers reluctant to sell, but also more than 20 years of underproducing housing coming to a head.

Metallica Load Album 24th Anniversary
Breaking News Hard to believe it was 24 years ago. I remember waiting to hear the debut of the new Metallica Song 'Until It Sleeps' on my local rock station. I listened to it with friends in my bands practice space and felt..... Confused. Like many of you I had grown up on a steady diet of "Old-School" Metallica. And like many of you I had a hard time with this new-school sound. The polished down tempo sound, the suits, cigars. For God's sake they cut their hair! Remember the controversy?
