Scottish new-build starts fall to lowest level since 2012-13

The number of new-build starts in Scotland fell by 4.4% last year, according to analysis by DJ Alexander. The lettings and estate agency said the latest Scottish Government housing statistics quarterly update showed all-sector new-build starts fell by 693, from 15,648 to 14,955, in the financial year 2025-26. DJ Alexander said this was the lowest 12-month figure since 2012-13.

Landbay cuts rates across 18 Premier buy-to-let products

Landbay has announced a further round of rate cuts across 18 Premier buy-to-let products. The lender has reduced rates by 0.05% across 5-year fixed-rate products available up to 75% LTV for purchase and remortgage, including AVM and product transfer options. Premier is Landbay’s range of standard and HMO products for borrowers with up to 15 mortgaged properties. It is available to both individual and limited company landlords.

EV appoints Chet Velani as chief executive

Velani takes on the role after more than 18 years with the business, having joined EV as a graduate in 2008.
