The Queer  Space Speaker Series, hosted by Rainbow Resource Centre, celebrated its third year and brought together queer leaders, artists, and activists to discuss community, celebrate identity, and inspire the ongoing fight for queer and human rights. Attending the event at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, it was immediately clear that community was the centre of conversation. During the pre-event reception, individuals gathered to connect and talk.

Pantages Theatre restoration signals potential future for historic spaces

Winnipeg’s historic Pantages Playhouse Theatre, which has been shuttered since 2018, will be getting a new lease on life as part of an estimated $62 million revitalization project. With a $15 million investment from the Province of Manitoba, that $62 million goal is that much closer. Downtown has long needed investment and upkeep. Premier Wab Kinew said this investment reflects both a cultural and economic opportunity for the province.

Colder spring gives visitors more time at world-famous snake dens

About 90 minutes north of Winnipeg, thousands of red-sided garter snakes are emerging from underground limestone caverns. Each spring, the Narcisse Snake Dens becomes one of the largest snake gatherings on the planet, and thanks to the cooler-than-usual season, there’s still time to visit this Manitoba wonder. Despite the cold, activity within the dens haven’t slowed the snakes much, many beginning their mating rituals.
