RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) -Golf-ball-sized hail hit the west side of Rapid City Monday, prompting reminders from a local insurance agent about what to check and when to file a claim. In Pennington County, hail of that size has happened more than 400 times since 1955, according to the script. Ryan Dolly, owner of Rapid Insurance, said homeowners should first look for immediate issues such as broken windows or holes in the roof.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) -Cooler temperatures are expected tonight as winds calm down across the region. Stronger winds are on the way for Wednesday, with the possibility of 60 mph winds in some areas. Tonight will be calm enough to allow temperatures to drop, as winds will not mix warm air around near the surface. There is still the possibility of northwesterly winds gathering warmth near and east of the Black Hills.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) -A cold front moving through the region will bring cooler temperatures and gusty winds this weekend, with wind gusts potentially reaching 50 mph by midweek. Temperatures will drop to levels more typical of early May or late April. Tonight’s temperatures will be coolest in the hills and northeast Wyoming, with Deadwood expected to reach 43 degrees and Rapid City hitting 53 degrees.
