Raimais - Hardcore Gaming 101
Taito’s 1986 title Arkanoid was an update of Atari’s brick-breaker Breakout, adding elements like power-ups and enemies. The designer, Akira Fujita, looked to continue theme but turn toward the dot-eater genre – popularized by Namco’s Pac-Man, but technically started by Sega/Gremlin’s Head-On – and evolved it with the 1988 arcade title Raimais (pronounced “ray maze”). Raimais takes place 100 years in the future, where illegal street races are held in holographic labyrinths.
Public sector or private sector: How the ONS decides - and why it matters
Part of the role of the Office for National Statistics is to assess whether various organisations should be considered part of the public or private sector for statistical purposes. These important decisions affect how many people appear in public sector employment figures, for example, as well as how much debt is counted as on the government’s books. But when would an organisation be classified to the public sector? Ryan Oliver explains how the ONS makes its decisions.
The structure of the monobactam-producing thioesterase domain of SulM forms a unique complex with the upstream carrier protein domain
Abstract Nonribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPSs) are responsible for the production of important biologically active peptides. The large, multidomain NRPSs operate through an assembly line strategy in which the growing peptide is tethered to carrier domains that deliver the intermediates to neighboring catalytic domains.

The CCP Response to the Wuhan Coronavirus: A Preliminary Assessment
Editor’s Note: Our previous issue contained an initial analysis of the Chinese government’s response to the outbreak of a previously unknown coronavirus in the central Chinese city of Wuhan (The State Response to a Mystery Viral Outbreak in Central China, January 17). Since the publication of that earlier article, the Wuhan virus has proliferated rapidly—in terms of both persons infected and the geographic spread of the disease.
The Fluidity of Phosphocholine and Maltoside Micelles and the Effect of CHAPS
(Biophysical Journal 116, 1682–1691; May 7, 2019) In the originally published article, some funding information was omitted from the Acknowledgments. The authors regret any inconvenience this may have caused.
The fluidity of phosphocholine and maltoside micelles and the effect of CHAPS
Abstract The dynamics of phosphocholine and maltoside micelles, detergents frequently used for membrane protein structure determination, were investigated using electron paramagnetic resonance of spin probes doped into the micelles. Specifically, phosphocholines are frequently used detergents in NMR studies and maltosides are frequently used in X-ray crystallography structure determination.
Contrast-Matching Detergent in Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Experiments for Membrane Protein Structural Analysis and Ab Initio Modeling
A beam time and instrument proposal should clearly convey all information needed to the review committee so that a valid assessment of the proposed experiment can be made. Communication with an NSS is highly suggested for inexperienced users. The NSS can assess initial feasibility and guide proposal submission to emphasize feasibility, safety, and the potential for high-impact science.
