Coinage metal-catalyzed or-mediated oxidative heteroarylation of arenes
The synthesis of substituted heteroaryl compounds has shown great interest in synthetic organic chemistry due to their utility in pharmaceuticals, natural products, agrochemicals, and advanced material chemistry [1]. Traditionally, these compounds were synthesized using pre-functionalized substrates and produced stoichiometric amounts of toxic by-products under transition metal catalysis (Scheme 1; Path-I) [2].
14-3-3ζ Suppresses RANKL Signaling by Destabilizing TRAF6
Abstract Macrophages are essential regulators of inflammation and bone loss. RANKL, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is responsible for macrophage differentiation to osteoclasts and bone loss. We recently showed that 14-3-3ζ-knockout (YwhazKO) rats exhibit increased bone loss in the inflammatory arthritis model. 14-3-3ζ is a cytosolic adaptor protein that actively participates in many signaling transductions. However, the role of 14-3-3ζ in RANKL signaling or bone remodeling is unknown.
Dynamics for High-Sensitivity Detection of Free Radicals in Primary Bronchial Epithelial Cells upon Stimulation with Cigarette Smoke Extract
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is currently one of the most severe health concerns, being the third leading cause of death worldwide. Patients who suffer from COPD usually experience progressive airflow limitation associated with an abnormal inflammatory reaction and impaired tissue repair mechanisms.
Hierarchically structured composite with superhydrophobicity and radiative cooling for energy-saving buildings
Energy efficiency was one of the first things on businessman Howard Bisla's mind when he was tasked with saving a local shop from bankruptcy.

A Large Terrestrial Carbon Sink in North America Implied by Atmospheric and Oceanic Carbon Dioxide Data and Models
LATEST NEWS Abstract Atmospheric carbon dioxide increased at a rate of 2.8 petagrams of carbon per year (Pg C year−1) during 1988 to 1992 (1 Pg = 1015 grams). Given estimates of fossil carbon dioxide emissions, and net oceanic uptake, this implies a global terrestrial uptake of 1.0 to 2.2 Pg C year−1.
