Section snippets IL-17 family cytokines and their producing cells The IL-17 family of cytokines contains six members: IL-17A, IL-17B, IL-17C, IL-17D, IL-17E, and IL-17F. These cytokines share homology in their amino acid sequences, characterized by four highly conserved cysteine residues involved in the formation of intrachain disulfide linkages. Notably, their evolutionary origins can trace back to ancient species like sea urchins or lamprey (Buckley et al., 2017, Han et al., 2015).
