The allergy, brought on by a tick bite, can make eating red meat, consuming dairy and using other mammal-derived products dangerous for people with the condition. May is Food Allergy Awareness Month, and alpha-gal syndrome deserves more attention. The condition can be hard to recognize because symptoms show up one to four months after the tick bite.
