The Supreme Court on Saturday sought details of all security barriers in Lahore from Inspector General (IG) Punjab Arif Nawaz. A three-member bench at the SC's Lahore registry, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, was hearing a suo motu notice on security blockades in different parts of the city. "Citizens should not be harassed in the name of security," Justice Nisar remarked, before asking IG Punjab to provide the court with details of security barriers placed in the provincial capital.

The Supreme Court on Saturday wrapped up the suo moto notice on Zainab murder case after the Punjab Inspector General Arif Nawaz told the court that a challan of the case had been submitted in an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, was hearing a suo motu case on the grisly rape and murder of six-year-old Zainab in Kasur.

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Wednesday granted police physical remand of 196 Punjab University students involved in a clash that left at least 12 injured earlier this week. On Monday, a brawl had erupted between two student groups ? Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) and the Pukhtun Baloch Council ? over holding of the Pioneer Festival by the IJT to welcome newcomers on the ground of the College of Electrical Engineering Department.
