Tested: 2024 Lotus Emira Is Both a First and a Last
From the December 2023 issue of Car and Driver. Naming a road gives it something like a personality, or at least a sense of drama. North Carolina Highway 209, a.k.a. the Rattler, needs no help with either. Its two-lane pavement ripples north-south in the mountains near the Tennessee border, traversing just over 36 miles of forest in the process.
2024 Ford Mustang GT Continues the Legend
Chris Walter grinned. "We are looking," he said, "to capture a new Mustang buyer." Walter, middle-aged and fit, is the Mustang's exterior design chief. He looks like a cross between Chris Martin of Coldplay and the retired British Formula 1 driver Jenson Button, and he was speaking to a group of journalists at the 2024 Ford Mustang's media launch in California. Generally chipper and friendly, he is hard to dislike, and his team does nice work.
2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Remixes a Hit
Not everyone can afford to tick all the boxes; some folks simply want a piece of a beloved story. With new Mustangs, that means EcoBoost: the base model and fleet star, the four-cylinder found at Hertz counters coast to coast. The Mustang remains the only true car in Ford's lineup, the lone holdout in a range of crossovers and trucks. The outgoing generation, which Ford called S550, ran from model years 2015 to 2023. The new car, S650, is basically the old car under a moderate makeover.

Man Convicted Of Killing 6 With SUV In Christmas Parade
By TODD RICHMOND, Associated Press MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin man was convicted Wednesday of killing six people when he drove his SUV through a Christmas parade last year, ending a trial in which he defended himself erratically and sometimes confrontationally. The jury found Darrell Brooks guilty of six counts of first-degree intentional homicide. He faces a mandatory life sentence on each count.
U.S. Slaps New Sanctions On Iranian Officials Over Protest Crackdown
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States on Wednesday targeted Iranian officials, including those overseeing Tehran’s Evin prison and others in new sanctions on Iran over internet censorship and a crackdown on protests ignited by Mahsa Amini’s death in police custody. Demonstrations following 22-year-old’s death in custody on Sept. 16 have become one of the boldest challenges to Iran’s clerical leadership since the 1979 revolution.

Jean Charlot, Tortillera with Child, Color Lithograph, 1941, 12 1⁄2 x 18 1⁄2 inches A black and white skull grins blithely, eye sockets empty; on its head sits a bountiful hat, resplendent with feathers and flowers. Though popular today in Day of the Dead (“Día de Muertos”) festivities, José Guadalupe Posada’s “Skeleton Catrina” satirized decadent Mexican elites who favored European influence and luxury at the expense of their own country.
100+ people evacuated from New Mexico national park after being stuck for several hours
An estimated 150 people have been evacuated after they were stranded at Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico. Park officials at the Caverns allowed people to leave safely from the site just before midnight on Saturday. Earlier that afternoon, flash flooding issues caused officials to issue a shelter-in-place for several hours at their visitor's center. A park ranger told sister station KOAT that the Caverns would be evacuated as soon as an order was given.
'I'm grateful': Family survives close call as Monsoon rains wash out part of New Mexico highway
Monsoon rains created havoc for drivers near Los Lunas, New Mexico, on Saturday, as New Mexico highway 6 has been closed due to flash flooding caused by rainfall in the area. Los Lunas Fire Chief John Gabaldon confirmed to sister station KOAT that two sections of the highway were washed out or underwater. One section of the road completely gave out, sinking a car. Dustin and Sadie Parker who were in that car say they almost lost their lives. “The car just died out.

Impact World Champion Josh Alexander and challenger Eric Young had one final conversation before they meet in the ring this Sunday at Slammiversary. Here’s what they told the assembled press, including Soundsphere. The Impact Slammiversary press call was hosted by D’Lo Brown, who’s not been seen on Impact TV since the commentator was taken out by members of the invading Honor No More stable. Brown introduced Scott D’Amore first to discuss his own relationship with the promotion.
Where Formula E is missing out on an easy win
At the Le Mans 24 Hours last week, during one of the seemingly endless free practice sessions, a colleague and I ascended the vast pit-straight grandstand to get some fresh air away from the rather ripe media centre and take in some night action. It’s so easy to get attuned to seeing only timing screens when working at an event. But once in a while, the opportunity presents itself to go beyond that and the spectacle blows you away.
What F1 should expect at Kyalami
Formula 1 drivers will love the Kyalami circuit if the South African Grand Prix is to return to the F1 calendar next season after a 30-year absence, but some doubt has been cast on whether good racing will be possible. That’s according to two drivers who have recently raced in international GT competition at the track, who say Kyalami will represent a good challenge for the drivers.
Shadows of Rose DLC
Following the success of Resident Evil Village, new DLC has finally been confirmed as Capcom is set to launch three distinct add-ons as part of the Winters’ Expansion. From the new Shadows of Rose story to a third-person mode, here’s everything on the way. Resident Evil Village, the eighth main chapter in the Resident Evil series, ended by wrapping up many plot points (some of which had existed since RE1).
Track layout for Formula E's latest new circuit revealed
The track layout for Formula E’s inaugural Jakarta E-Prix has been revealed, with teams anticipating a bumpy venue that will combine elements reminiscent of FE’s New York and Valencia circuits. The 1.47-mile track, which is located in the Ancol resort area north of the Indonesian capital, was built from scratch to replace initial plans for a race in the historic main Merdeka Square of central Jakarta.

What to expect from Formula E's first race in South Korea
A 60,000 capacity crowd in the stadium that hosted the 1988 Olympic Games will be able to watch the two Seoul E-Prix that will take place on Formula E’s 2022 season-ending weekend in August. The races will be held on a track that incorporates perimeter roads outside the Jamsil stadium that now predominantly hosts international and national football matches.
Was Vettel motorsport's best spokesperson for sustainability?
Sebastian Vettel’s appearance on British political debate show Question Time last week was undoubtedly a PR masterstroke from Aston Martin to bring wider eyes to the relatively niche and insular motorsport world. But it also caused a stir in the Formula E Berlin paddock, as drivers and ambassadors of electric vehicles and sustainable racing tuned in to see a combustion engine-racing counterpart talk about and discuss topics that their race series is focused on.
Formula E 2022 is shaping up to be a four-way title fight
The usual assorted cliches of ‘it’s too soon to think about the championship’ and ‘there’s a lot of racing to come yet’ echoed around the ghostly terminals of once the world’s largest airport in Tempelhof airport after Saturday’s Formula E race. But they will start to dissipate quickly after Sunday’s race should the same usual 2022 big points accruing suspects be gathering their rewards once more as the season reaches its halfway point.
How Porsche and Andretti's Formula E Gen3 deal happened
The joining together of two of motorsport’s biggest names, Porsche and Andretti, in Formula E from later this year will form a mutually beneficial cooperation that will benefit both across several years. That’s according to both parties’ leaders after formally announcing what The Race predicted earlier this year would happen – that Porsche would provide cars for Andretti in the first homologation of the Gen3 period through to the end of the 2024 season.
‘A big failure’ – Formula E’s verdict on canned Vancouver race - The Race
The possibility of a Vancouver E-Prix taking place in 2023 depends upon if the promoters of the troubled event are able to give assurances that it could go ahead before the World Motorsport Council convenes next month. The initially planned race, which was to have occurred on July 2 this year, was thwarted when specific permits were unable to be granted for the hosting of the race around the False Creek area of the Canadian city.
Marrakesh replaces Toronto on 2022 Formula E calendar
Marrakesh will replace the postponed Formula E Vancouver EPrix in the same July 2 date slot. The Moroccan venue will host its fifth EPrix and its first since February 2020 after a hastily arranged substitute race was mooted at a Formula E board meeting held in Monaco last month. That came in the same week that the Vancouver plans fell apart just eight weeks before the new Canadian event was due to host one of the jewel in the crown events on the 2022 calendar.
'There’s no hiding place'
Sam Bird is not only a fan of football, but he was also a very talented exponent of the beautiful game, playing at a reasonably high level, even being offered a youth deal at AFC Wimbledon in his youth. Therefore, he will fully understand the temptation to use football cliches to describe his present form. ‘Sticky patch’ and ‘barren spell’ come to mind quickly. He’s faced much worse times than this though in his long, varied, and productive racing career.
The subtle evolution of Formula E's new points leader
With all respect to Maximilian Guenther, who earned every one of his fine three E-Prix victories for BMW, it stands as a curious statistic that the German had won more races than Stoffel Vandoorne prior to Saturday’s Monaco E-Prix. That’s more a musing on the fact that Vandoorne and Mercedes EQ have been such a powerful package for the last two seasons but reaped few ultimate rewards together than they might have.
Dark-type Pokemon weaknesses & resistances
If you’re getting outmaneuvered by sneaky Dark-type Pokemon, here’s how to take advantage of their weaknesses in battle to bring them down with the best counters and details on their resistances. Dark-type Pokemon can be troublesome in battle due to their mystique and sneaky move-set, as it is essentially another element in Pokemon games, and therefore, can be quite damaging to those who are especially weak against it.
How Monaco Formula E victory eluded Evans and Jaguar again
Mitch Evans was left with a mixture of emotions after again being denied a Formula E victory on his adopted home streets despite starting from a dominant pole position and leading the opening half of the Monaco E-Prix. The Jaguar driver was stuck essentially towing the leading group of cars around the Monaco circuit, where there is a strong slipstream benefit in Formula E and the layout demands energy saving.
Why divisive Gen3 Formula E car looks the way it does
The dramatic look of the new Gen3 Formula E car will cause divisive opinions both inside and outside of the paddock following its launch on Thursday. The Race reported last December that the Stellantis Group – through a special design cell called the Stellantis Design Studio, which includes several former Peugeot stylists and is influenced by the renowned Peugeot Design Laboratory – has worked in conjunction with the FIA on the avant-garde look of the new design.
New Gen3 Formula E car unveiled
The highly anticipated Gen3 Formula E car broke cover in Monaco on Thursday, and has been described as “a seriously quick and agile racing car” by the only driver to sample the design so far. Three-time Le Mans winner Benoit Treluyer has tested the distinctive-looking machine since last October and believes the power delivery and handling of the lighter car will deliver much more dynamic racing in the all-electric world championship.
The bruising Formula E strategy lessons of a Monaco dark horse
If harnessed correctly and if his team ensures he has an effective energy strategy, Jake Dennis could go from dark horse to dead cert for a potential third Formula E race victory in Monaco this Saturday. The combination of second-year FE racer Dennis, the Avalanche Andretti team and its ex-BMW package has little to show for how rapid it’s been in 2022 so far.
What's keeping Buemi motivated amid Nissan Formula E trough
One of the biggest mysteries of the last year in Formula E has been the drop off in form of the Nissan e.dams team and its usual driving force, Sebastien Buemi. The reason for its drop off from race winner with its previous IM02 car to lower-midfield runner with the IM03 has never publicly been disclosed despite some theories that oscillations from an aspect of its powertrain might be a contributing cause.
The select Formula E club Evans could join in Monaco
The last time a trio of Formula E wins by one driver was pulled off was when Antonio Felix da Costa followed his Marrakesh win in February 2020 with his title-defining double at Berlin six months later. That hardly felt like a trio of successes due to the pandemic-affected gap, yet it was in fact one of only two such occasions a driver has pulled off an unofficial E-Prix triple.
Everything you need to know about Formula E's pivotal week
Former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson is usually attributed with the famous phrase that ‘a week is a long time in politics’ after making the quip during the sterling currency crisis of 1964. It alluded to how quickly and irrevocably things can change in the corridors of power. The movers and shakers in Formula E may well be muttering similar things just now as they enter a crucial week.
Gen3 testing headaches facing Formula E teams
Formula E’s manufacturers are about to embark on an intense four-month period of a dizzying race and test carousel that will test every aspect of their capabilities. With the Gen3 Formula E set to be revealed publicly next Thursday in Monaco and manufacturers hoping to receive some of their supplied hardware shortly after that, rigorous preparation for 2023 will commence.
MotoGP pair of legends' brothers should be facing more pressure
It’s only four races into the 2022 MotoGP season and already there’s plenty of speculation about who’s going next year – and who’s going to be left without a seat as the paddock’s very own game of musical chairs stops. But while established race winners like Jack Miller look set to lose their factory seats at the very least, perhaps the most unfair part of the whole thing is that two riders with obvious familial ties look set to maintain their seats with little drama.
Jaguar's 'sink or swim' journey from torrid start to Rome walkover
Jaguar led itself down several blind alleys at the Hermanos Rodriguez venue in February, forcing it into a frank and exhaustive debrief after a subpar start to the Formula E season. Mitch Evans sandwiched the initial post-Mexican post-mortem and what he described as “one of the best sim days I’ve ever had” earlier this week with a long awaited trip back to his homeland of New Zealand.
