Introduction Esophageal cancer (EC) is the seventh most common cancer, accounting for 3.1% of all cancers, and the sixth leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, accounting for 5.5% of all cases (1). EC is a cancer with a poor prognosis, detected symptomatically in advance stages.
