On Sept. 20, Mount Royal University held a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of Treaty 7. The Treaty 7 flag and the survivor flag, designed by Elders from the National Centre of Truth and Reconciliation, were raised to inaugurate the Journey to Indigenization. Dallas Seitz, a Professor of Psychiatry and Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine, is overseeing the development of a historic dementia park in Calgary. As the principal investigator, Seitz aims to create a safe and inclusive outdoor space for individuals living with dementia and their families. “The outdoors can have real benefits for people’s mental health and physical health and that, of course, includes people with dementia,” says Seitz.
