I am a sophomore at the University of Vermont planning on pursuing a career in journalism. I have been on my college paper, The Vermont Cynic, in the News section since I began attending the University of Vermont. The Vermont Cynic is the longest running weekly college newspaper in the country and has won many awards over the years.
I currently hold the positions of Assistant News Editor, Senior Staff Writer, Enterprise Writer, Sports Staff Writer and Staff Photographer. I have acquired many skills through my work on The Vermont Cynic, including web design. I am a double major in English and Political Science, with a minor in Public Communications. There is no journalism major at my school.
I am also a member of the NCAA Division 1 swimming and diving team at Vermont. I have been swimming competitively year round since I was nine. My commitments to the sport of swimming and to my college newspaper have helped me learn how to manage my time wisely, work well with other people and persevere.
