Hookworm infestation in the biliary tract: a case report
Background Hookworms are parasitic nematodes that primarily infect humans in impoverished communities. They attach to the intestines to feed on blood, which results in anemia and other health complications. While parasitic infections of the biliary tract can occur and lead to significant issues such as cholangitis, pancreatitis, and biliary obstruction, hookworms are not documented to be associated with these biliary infestations.
Extreme Hyperbilirubinemia with Hepatitis – A Infection in a Child with Sickle Cell Trait
To the Editor: Hepatitis A virus (HAV) is the leading cause of acute viral hepatitis in Indian children [1]. The disease presents as a self-limiting condition with a low mortality rate [2]. Severe hyperbilirubinemia and hepatic encephalopathy are uncommon; however, we report a case of a 5-y-old unimmunized tribal child from Jharkhand with extreme hyperbilirubinemia and hepatic encephalopathy. The child presented with progressive jaundice for two weeks and altered sensorium for three days.

Discovery of NIRF theranostic probes targeting amyloid-β and cholinesterases in Alzheimer’s disease models - Nature Communications
Abstract Alzheimer’s disease (AD) remains a major unmet medical challenge, with limited tools that integrate early diagnosis and therapeutic intervention. Considering the pivotal roles of amyloid-β (Aβ) and cholinesterases (ChEs) in AD etiology, we report dual-functional theranostic NIR-I probes. The lead candidate, I-43, exhibits favorable NIR optical properties (Stokes shift ≥ 220 nm) and binds strongly to Aβ fibrils, with Kd values of 58.2 ± 9.7 nM for Aβ1-40 and 104 ± 25 nM for Aβ1-42.
Unravelling Compositional Changes in Field Pea Leaf Cuticles Under Heat Stress Using Synchrotron‐Based Fourier Transform Mid‐Infrared Spectroscopy
Heat stress-induced pea leaf cuticle composition changes were detected using synchrotron-based FTIR. Heat stress caused compositional changes in waxes, cutin, cutan, phenolic compounds and polysaccharides. Heat stress resulted in oxidative stress in pea leaf cuticles. 1 Introduction Field pea (Pisum sativum) is an economically important crop in western Canada, where heat stress is one of the major environmental stresses affecting crop production under the semi-arid agricultural conditions.

Fruit-In-Sight: a deep learning-based framework for secondary metabolite class prediction using fruit and leaf images
Abstract Fruits produce a wide variety of secondary metabolites of great economic value. Analytical measurement of secondary metabolites is tedious, time-consuming and expensive. Additionally, metabolite concentration varies greatly from tree to tree, making it difficult to choose trees for fruit collection. The current study tested whether deep learning-based models can be developed using fruit and leaf images alone to predict a metabolite's concentration class (high or low).

Different glassy characteristics are related to either caging or dynamical heterogeneity
What does a theory of glass need to explain? Is there a single defining mechanism of glasses? Are the different glassy characteristics distinct properties? Glassy dynamics poses one of the most fascinating and challenging problems of statistical physics.1 If you supercool a liquid below its melting point without allowing it to crystallize, it becomes glass.

When Mahatma Gandhi survived a lynch mob
Mob lynching, the scourge of India that has led to nearly a 100 hundred deaths in the past few years, is hardly a new phenomenon. Around 125 years ago, a young Indian lawyer named Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi faced a similar faceless and mindless mob in South Africa. But unlike many in present-day India, he was lucky to have survived. Had he not, the world would have never known of Mahatma Gandhi.
