Additive Manufacturing Changes OEM Strategies in Maritime and Offshore
Maritime and offshore original equipment makers/manufactures are reevaluating their ‘make or buy’ decisions, as additive manufacturing establishes the case for controlling not only the cost and quality of parts, but also their delivery lead times, says Scott Harding, VP Engineering, Pelagus 3D. Cost has always been the starting point for equipment suppliers in the ‘make-or-buy’ debate where parts are concerned, and the maritime and offshore sectors are no exceptions.

The Pentagon Wants Your High Schoolers
For the past three years, the US military has suffered through its worst recruiting crisis since the end of the draft in 1973. The Army Reserve has not met its annual quota of new recruits for nearly ten years. In fiscal year 2023, the Navy and Air Force failed to meet their recruiting goals — the first time this happened in twenty-four years for the Air Force, despite being traditionally viewed as the most desirable branch of service.

OMBUDSMAN OBSERVATIONS: Standing up for long term care residents
Many residents of nursing homes, assisted living, and residential care facilities struggle with the feeling that they have given up much of their ability to make choices for themselves and control their own lives. While some adjustment is needed when moving into a facility, residents should understand that they continue to enjoy all the rights they had before. In addition to those rights, Federal and State laws ensure these individuals also have Residents Rights.
Ombudsman Observations: Elder abuse, neglect can take many forms
As advocates for the residents of long-term care facilities, the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office takes allegations and signs of resident abuse and neglect very seriously. I am often asked, “What is an ombudsman?” It is not a commonly used word. What it means in general terms is an advocate or representative. Specifically, a long-term care ombudsman is an advocate for residents of long-term care facilities. These facilities include nursing homes, assisted living and residential care facilities, and intermediate care facilities for Individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF-IID).
Ombudsman Observations: Spend time with loved ones in long-term care
On behalf of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office, we would like to wish a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday season to all of our long-term care residents and their loved ones. Ombudsman Observations: Make sure long-term care facilities prepared for disasters
September has been designated as National Preparedness Month. Oklahoma residents are well aware of the importance of being prepared for both natural and manmade disasters. Few places experience nearly everything from tornadoes to earthquakes, including wild fires and flooding, as much as Oklahoma. Many people have firsthand knowledge of dealing with these types of disasters. It is important that everyone is prepared on a personal level with emergency supplies and knowledge.

Not having anyone to visit them can sometimes turn temporary sadness into serious depression.
