1 Introduction Multiphase flow in porous media is relevant to many engineering processes, ranging from large-scale carbon geosequestration and hydrogen subsurface storage (Heinemann et al., 2021; Lake et al., 2014; Zhong et al., 2024) to microscale applications such as fluid manipulation in microfluidic devices (Dudukovic et al., 2021; Wang et al., 2024).

When Nine Network (Nine) faced the dilemma of aging edit suites and mounting hardware costs in their Brisbane studios, they didn’t just see a problem—they saw an opportunity. The traditional approach would have been straightforward: replace hardware (server, processor, memory, storage) with new edit suites, maintain the same workflows, and prepare for the same refresh cycle in a few years.

The study of viscous thin film flow has led to the development of highly nonlinear partial differential equations that model how the evolution of the film height is affected by different forces. We investigate a model of interaction between surface tension and the thermocapillary Marangoni effect, with a particular focus on the long-time limit.
