What was your first job as a journalist?

My first job was as a photographer/editor.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, but I would like to try one sometime!

How is social media changing news?

Social media makes communication instantaneous. People do not have to wait for a newscast to get important news anymore.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means being willing to put in the work required to present the facts about issues in which the general public has a vested interest.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

I enjoy following #reporterproblems

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email, but make sure my name is in the subject line. I get a LOT of spam masquerading as pitches!

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

HD Camera, non-linear video editor, iPad/iPhone/PC with Evernote

What's your favorite social network?

I still prefer Facebook to Twitter. Most of my real-life friends haven't joined Twitter yet.
