The founder of LGBTQ+ editorial brand Cakeboy, Santiago is an accomplished journalist, essayist and speaker who covers art and design, as well as beauty, style and gender and identity. He is that rare bird who can cover blush and Bauhaus with equal authority.

What was your first job as a journalist?

My very first job as a journalist was—isn't this the same for everyone?—as a reporter for my university newspaper.

Nope.

How is social media changing news?

Social media is not "changing news" per se, but is creating an effect where the news cycle seems much shorter and harder to keep pace with.
