Read Full Bio →Born in Chile and raised in Northern Virginia, Sergio worked as a reporter at newspapers large and small for more than 20 years, including six as a Washington correspondent at Gannett News Service. He's been an editor since 2005 when he joined the Miami Herald, where he oversaw reporting teams covering state politics and government. He also covered the 2016 presidential campaign for The Associated Press and worked two years as POLITICO Florida editor. He's based in South Florida.
