All 170 K-12 students at Monarch School in San Diego's Barrio Logan neighborhood have been relocated to temporary campuses while the building undergoes mold testing. The school, which serves youth experiencing homelessness, canceled classes Friday after mold concerns surfaced Thursday, according to Matthew Tessier, assistant superintendent with the San Diego County Office of Education. Students began attending temporary campuses Monday.

Parents in the Ramona Unified School District say school bus route cuts are leaving some students with long walks home, including during a heat wave, as the district consolidates routes amid an ongoing driver shortage. Under the district's policy for middle and high school students, a student must live more than 2.5 miles from school to qualify for bus transportation. That distance is calculated as the crow flies rather than by the student's actual walking route.
