What was your first job as a journalist?

Freelancing about police corruption for the satirical and investigative magazine Private Eye

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. An Imperial 200 portable owned by my grandmother, who wrote her two autobiographical novels on it.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Spider Jerusalem, from the comic book series Transmetropolitan.

Why did you become a journalist?

I sort of drifted into it after changing the world didn't work out for me.

What's your favorite drink?

Vodka Martini. Very Dry. Olives. And shaken til it begs for mercy.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Sleeping, playing with the kids or watching a movie
