COLORADO SPRINGS — More than 100 people showed up at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery Tuesday morning for a ceremony for an unclaimed veteran, but there was a surprise. Initially, Jim E. Van Hoose Jr. was marked as an unclaimed veteran. That status is given when a veteran dies and no known family can come to claim the remains. So, the community is encouraged to come show support on the veteran's behalf. Covering Colorado The cemetery sometimes gets a small number to come pay their respects.

COLORADO SPRINGS — Monday is the deadline for voters in Colorado Springs to mail in their ballots for the April 1 Municipal Election. All six city council seats are on the ballot. You will vote for your district based on where you live. After Monday, your ballot will have to be dropped off at the city clerk's office or one of the 24/7 drop-off boxes around town.

COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs has a City Council Election April 1, so Monday, the City Clerk's Office put the ballot counting system to the test. It's called a logic and accuracy test. A board of three election officials put ballots through a tabulation machine to check its accuracy. Once the machine is verified, it is then secured so no one can access and change the tabulations. The clerk's office says this test is an important part of every election.
