Authentic Spatial Metabolomics by Avoiding Hidden Pitfalls in MSI Workflows Click to copy article link Article link copied!
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) has emerged as a powerful analytical tool for visualizing the spatial distribution of endogenous molecules in complex biological tissues. However, achieving authentic and reproducible metabolic maps remains challenging due to pitfalls in sample preparation and instrumental limitations that are often overlooked.
Psychosocial distress and associated factors among pneumoconiosis patients: a cross-sectional study
Abstract Background and aims: Pneumoconiosis is a chronic pulmonary disease characterized by diminished physical function, impaired mental health, and deteriorated socioeconomic status. The study aims to evaluate the status of psychosocial distress and identify its associated factors in patients with pneumoconiosis.
Targeting mitochondrial α-ketoglutarate sequestration disables dual oncogenic drivers and metabolic adaptability in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma
Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) exhibits hyperactive mitochondrial metabolism, yet how this rewiring spatially restricts the availability of metabolites for oncogenic signaling and drives systemic metabolic dysregulation in PDAC remains unknown. Here, we identify enhanced mitochondrial α-ketoglutarate (α-KG) sequestration as a key metabolic vulnerability in PDAC.
Targeting mitochondrial TRIP13-AIF interaction suppresses myeloid leukemia progression and overcomes drug resistance
Abstract Venetoclax-based therapies have revolutionized acute myeloid leukemia (AML) treatment, yet disease progression remains a challenge due to limited response and acquired drug resistance. Identifying molecular drivers of AML progression and resistance is essential for improving therapeutic outcomes. Genes normally silenced in normal tissues but aberrantly activated in cancers, such as Cancer-Testis (CT) genes, are promising targets for cancer diagnostics and therapy.

Perturbation of NAD(P)H metabolism with the LbNOX xenotopic tool extends lifespan and mitigates age-related changes
Abstract Aging involves widespread metabolic dysregulation, including a decline in total nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) levels. While NAD precursor supplementation elevates total NAD levels, it does not reveal tissue-specific effects of an altered NADH [reduced form of NAD+ (oxidized NAD)]/NAD+ balance. To address this, we generated transgenic Drosophila expressing the genetically encoded xenotopic enzyme LbNOX, which converts NADH to NAD+.
Albumin-based nanoparticles encapsulating SN-38 demonstrate superior antitumor efficacy compared to irinotecan
?Mathematical formulae have been encoded as MathML and are displayed in this HTML version using MathJax in order to improve their display. Uncheck the box to turn MathJax off. This feature requires Javascript. Click on a formula to zoom. Abstract Efficient formulation of SN-38 for broad-spectrum chemotherapy remains an unmet medical need. The limited solubility of SN-38 in both aqueous and organic solvents poses a major challenge for formulation development.

SMART: an approach for accurate formula assignment in spatially-resolved metabolomics
Abstract Spatially-resolved metabolomics plays a critical role in unraveling tissue-specific metabolic complexities. Despite its significance, this profound technology generates thousands of features, yet accurate annotation significantly lags behind LC-MS-based approaches. To bridge this gap, we introduce SMART, an open-source platform designed for precise formula assignment in mass spectrometry imaging.
Tissue-specific modulation of NADH consumption as an anti-aging intervention in Drosophila
Abstract Aging is characterized by extensive metabolic dysregulation. Redox coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) can exist in oxidized (NAD+) or reduced (NADH) states, which together form a key NADH/NAD+ redox pair. Total levels of NAD decline with age in a tissue-specific manner, thereby playing a significant role in the aging process. Supplementation with NAD precursors boosts total cellular NAD levels and provides some therapeutic benefits in human clinical trials.
