July 13, 2026, 4:47 p.m. ET Six of the 16 children found living in "deplorable" conditions in Vinton County should have been attending school when they lived in a nearby county, but authorities could not locate the family, according to court records. In October 2021, Gallia County Juvenile Court filed six complaints against Gary Siders Jr. and Elizabeth Siders for failing to send their children to school, according to court documents obtained by The Dispatch.
