Special Summer Alexandria Film Series Celebrates 20th Year

The Alexandria Film Festival is celebrating its 20th season by adding a summer film series this year. “We thought we’d pull out all the stops for our 20th anniversary,” Patti North, Founder and Executive Director of the Alexandria Film Festival, explains. “There were just so many good films out there. We went out and looked for films that we thought would interest our audience and chose three curated films from a distributor we often use.” All are Virginia premiers.

Summer Reading Challenge Kicks Off in Arlington

The Arlington Public Library Summer Reading Challenge began at the library branches on Saturday, June 6. Although most of the kids did say they were there because of something to do with reading, honestly the attractions were Abe from the Washington Nationals and the “Plant A Seed, Read” activity. Plant a Seed was a chocolate pudding cup representing dirt topped with gummy worms present in any rich garden soil. Roun Erikson and Reese Tsang are lined up to get their pudding cups.
