From Street Names to Textbooks, WWII in Kosovo is Not What it Once Was
Since 1999, monuments have been erected to honour the Albanian resistance to Yugoslav forces, immortalising figures such as Shaban Polluzha and Mehmet Gradica and events like the 1945 Drenica uprising in central Kosovo by Kosovo Albanians against the newly established communist authorities. These monuments are well-visited, enjoy political support, and represent a reinterpretation of WWII from an Albanian perspective.

Adem Demaci, Principled Warrior for Kosovo Freedom
Adem Demaci was born in August 1935 in Pristina, in the Kingdom of Serbs-Croats and Slovenes. As a result of tough living conditions and the lack of healthcare, of the seven children, only three survived. Unsure whether Adem would also survive, his parents did not even register his birth until February 26, 1936, six months later.
