A Radiometric Pilot Study
1. Introduction Orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption in the permanent dentition is a pathologic consequence of orthodontic treatment, and it can range from mild root blunting to severe resorption of significant portions of the root structure. [1] [2] Root resorption was first described by Bates in 1856. He referred to the process as “absorption” which was caused because of injury to the periodontal membrane.
