With less than 70 days until New York City’s general election, elected officials, organizers and Central Brooklyn residents packed into the New York Democrats’ new office location in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Joined by Congresswoman Yvette Clarke and District 40 Councilmember Rita Joseph, NY Democrats celebrated their endorsement of Adrienne Adams for Lieutenant Governor alongside the re-election of Governor Kathy Hochul. “We need Democrats to run this city,” Councilmember Joseph told BK Reader.

Despite Brooklyn’s 80-degree weather and high humidity, elected officials and local shop owners gathered outside CLAY SPACE Ceramic Center in Greenpoint on Aug. 20. Their message to the MTA was clear: A change to the G train schedule this December is necessary. Current plans would bring shutdowns during the holiday season for three weekends in a row.

The New York City Department of Small Businesses Services announced that Brooklyn will receive nearly $2.8 million of $8.4 million total in grants across the city — one of the largest releases of small business grants in SBS history. The grant comes after 2025 marked the first year of net loss in small businesses across the city since COVID, President and CEO of Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Randy Peers told BK Reader.
