Logic Pro: Studio Piano
We put Logic’s new Studio Piano instrument through its paces. Whilst keyboard instruments have a history stretching back thousands of years, the piano as we know it emerged in the early 1700s. Since then, it’s fair to say that pianos have been perennially in fashion, and perhaps even more so today.
Logic Pro: Atmos Recording With Your iPhone
Own a recent iPhone? Then you’ve got a powerful, Logic‑friendly recorder in your pocket! In 2016, Apple released Music Memos as a companion app to GarageBand. However, this was discontinued in 2020, leaving Voice Memos as the only option for making musical sketches on your iPhone. But this app does what it needs to with aplomb, and now offers multitrack recording... up to a maximum of two tracks.
Logic Pro: Getting Started In Atmos
Logic contains everything you need to start mixing in Dolby Atmos. When Apple refer to Spatial Audio, they aren’t pointing to a specific technology or format. Rather, it’s a broad umbrella term for an ecosystem that supports both the creation and consumption of immersive audio content.
Logic Pro: The Synth Bass Session Player
We check out Logic’s new Synth Bass Session Player. Last month we explored Logic Pro 12’s new Synth Keyboard Session Player. This time, we’re looking at its companion, the Synth Bass Session Player. Being part of Logic’s Session Player ecosystem, they share similar workflows, so here we’ll focus more on where they differ. At its core, the Synth Bass Session Player is a virtual performer designed to automatically generate bass lines using synthesizer sounds.
Why I Love... Improvisation
Improvisation is something we’re all capable of, even if we’ve been conditioned over time to reject it, or never had the chance to explore it in the first place. Aside from jazz, ‘free’ music, or even composition, improvisation can be a powerful mindset for learning, evolving, and developing your engineering and sound‑design skills. Musicians have a long history of taking tools and working out what they can do with them. For some, the best way to learn is through hands‑on experimentation.
Logic Pro: Synth Players
Logic’s new Synth Players add yet more keyboardists to your virtual band. Software companies are developing more and more tools that mean conventional training in composition, sound design or instrumental technique is no longer a prerequisite for bringing musical ideas to life. This is, of course, a story as old as technology itself.
Logic Pro: MIDI Plug‑ins
Logic’s MIDI plug‑ins are your key to instant inspiration! When Logic Pro 11 was released back in May 2024, it introduced a wealth of new features, many of which have already been covered in these pages. However, some of the more subtle, but no less powerful additions may have flown under the radar. Among these are significant improvements to MIDI routing, which could open up creative possibilities for producers.
Logic Pro: Flashback Capture
With Flashback Capture, you need never lose a magical take again! Like in Citizen Kane or Pulp Fiction, interesting things happen when a story is subjected to a flashback. Imagine you’ve played something brilliant, but were not in record. Wouldn’t it be useful to step back in time and capture those inspired moments?
Logic Pro: Granular Resynthesis
Alchemy’s granular engine is a sonic playground with infinite possibilities! Who needs a gaming console when sound design offers a world of immersive experiences! If you’re ever stuck for a starting point for a new composition, you could do much worse than trying granular resynthesis in Alchemy — it can transform any scrap of audio you have lying around into a goldmine of ideas in no time.
Logic Pro: Analysing & Transcribing Music
Logic Pro contains a multitude of tools to help you analyse and transcribe music. The Channel EQ in Logic Pro is remarkably useful for analysing your audio’s frequency content. But what other noteworthy tools does Logic offer for analysing music? Whether you’re a musician learning riffs and solos, a songwriter researching song structures, or a producer unravelling the mysteries of a mix, transcription is a powerful and often underused resource.
Sony ES receivers - IR repeater functions?
#1 · Has anyone used the IR Repeater functions built into certain Sony ES receivers? I have a STR-DA3000ES that has this feature, and am considering buying a STR-DA4300ES that has the same. Both of these receivers have a IR REMOTE section, with one input, and two outputs. They look like mono minijacks. The manual only describes how you could put an IR receiver and connect it to the single input, then hide away the receiver and still send it commands. But they give no specs or any other information.
Save yourself a future headache with a head start on DORA regulations – Global Security Mag Online
For many financial businesses, the industry of compliance is becoming more and more complex. You just finish looking at one regulation to ensure you are compliant, then along comes the next. With the huge increase in cyber security threats that all companies are facing, and the tightening of cyber insurance criteria, DORA (the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act) is one set of regulations financial companies need to be on top of now, even though they don’t come into force until January 2025.

Aside from suppliers, you’d need optimized tools and processes for efficient distribution and performance. Supply chain optimization depends on three factors: low-cost operation, high-profit margin, and customer satisfaction.
