Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip officially opening Mount Druitt Hospital on October 11, 1982. Almost four decades ago a new type of hospital was built which would present a profound and positive change for patients and staff. And it all happened in a sparsely populated community on the western fringes of Sydney. Today, Mount Druitt Hospital, along with its sister hospital in Blacktown, provides 24-hour emergency care as well as clinical and acute services to a growing urban population.
