Although intensely competitive, the Saddlehorse community is close-knit. Representatives of the Saddlehorse industry gathered at the Simmons Stables Barn for the annual International Saddlebred Hall of Fame induction ceremony on May 30. This year's inductees included Kent and Stacey Swalla of Missouri, Larry Hodge of Kentucky and Howard “Howie” Schatzberg of Arizona.

The Presser Pipes spring concert was all about memories. Since 2018, the Presser Pipes Choir has celebrated the arts and community. The spring concert and canned food drive was held May 28 on the Presser Arts Center main stage. For some, it brought back memories and for others, it served as an opportunity to make some new ones.

The scheduled bond work for Mexico School District improvements is coming to a close as administration turns its attention to next year’s budget. At the May 19 Mexico School District Board of Education meeting, members heard updates about the ongoing work funded by the Paws for Progress Bond, and Dr. Troy Lentz, district superintendent, presented items that will appear on the fiscal year 2026-27 budget including additional course offerings for Mexico’s Agriculture and FFA programs.
