He sped to a time of 3:31.69 on his home track at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, lowering the previous mark, held by Liam Murphy of Villanova, by nearly a second and a half.

Eliud Kipchoge finishes 12th at the Porto Alegre Marathon

Sarah Lorge Butler Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya, who is in the midst of running a marathon on every continent over the course of two years, finished the Porto Alegre Marathon in Brazil on July 12 in 2:18:42. He went through the first half in 1:05:10, before fading in the second half and finishing in 12th place. Kipchoge's YouTube channel has a video of his race, and his final minute can be seen at the 2:44 mark.
