Hypertension has been identified as the single greatest contributor to the global burden of disease and mortality, with estimates suggesting that the highest levels of blood pressure have shifted from high-income countries to low-income countries in sub-Saharan Africa. While evidence suggests a remarkably high prevalence of hypertension among urban residents in Namibia, national estimates to inform on the country-level burden are lacking.

Govt launch survey to identify individuals with informal skills

The Ministry of Labour and Social Services has launched a survey to acquire information on the number of individuals with informal skills and occupations in the Country. The four months programme Dubbed, Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities will target 280,000 youths in the Country. This is according to the ministry will help create job opportunities in the country. The four months programme dubbed, Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities project will take place in 6 counties.

Governments partner on affordable housing initiative

A partnership launched by Newcastle City Council to tackle a worsening affordable housing shortage has been welcomed, while new research calls on councils to review planning approaches. The partnership between Newcastle Council, the NSW Government and Compass Housing will see the development of an affordable housing development in Newcastle’s inner city, with the council, state and Compass each set to contribute $3 million towards the precinct.
