Packed in the backyard of the 61st House Ever Built sat a crowd of loyal indie enthusiasts anticipating a night of experimentation with San Diego’s finest local bands. Celebrating the release of Neutral Shirt’s newest EP Egg Time, the band was joined by Hex, the gift machine, and Emperor X underneath a billowing, gray sky. Egg Time marks Neutral Shirt’s first release since their EP Daisyworld in 2020. An exploration of time and the self, Egg Time transports listeners down a lethargic current.

Slow Hollows at the Casbah (4/9/24) by Sofia Dell’Aquila Stopping in San Diego for their Dog Heaven tour, Slow Hollows took the stage of the Casbah last week to celebrate the release of their new album, Bullhead. After emerging from a four year hiatus, the Los Angeles quartet miraculously returned to the music scene out of sheer quarantine boredom (and we’re all thankful for it).

Slater with the Crowd by Sofia Dell’Aquila (March 8, 2024) From the depths of the Vada Vada collective comes Slater, an iconic name in the world of alternative pop. Hailing from Orange County, his connections to The Garden, Cowgirl Clue, and 3l3d3p drew in a familiar crowd. Kicking off his “Still Burnt” tour at San Diego’s Voodoo Room, Slater was joined by punk band The Mainliners and local shoegaze group Blossom.
