NELSONVILLE, Ohio — The statutory Nelsonville City Council met at Hocking College on Monday to discuss and adopt ordinances and resolutions regarding current decisions by the charter city council that is operating in city hall. After the minutes were approved, Resolution 23-17 was introduced as a request for the self-titled “elected” city council to repair the Nelsonville Aquatic Center quickly and without delay.

Fill the Freezers campaign returns to Lawrence County

Lawrence County is again fighting food insecurity at this year's fair by filling freezers. The Lawrence County Community Foundation's Fill the Freezer campaign is returning to the Lawrence County Fair on July 18 to provide community members and food pantries with necessary protein. The Fill the Freezer campaign allows livestock buyers at the fair to donate their market lamb, hog, beef or turkey purchases.

2024 - First-Year Research

During my freshman year of university, I won Third Place in the First-Year Research category of the Maier Awards for my research paper titled "Tipping: The Social Plague."

Ralph Turner Award

2026 - Outstanding Intern

The Ralph Turner award in the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications is a prestigious accolade that recognizes the outstanding work of an intern that is currently enrolled in the SOJMC program. This award is named after Ralph Turner. Turner is an alumni of the program and the reason that our internship program at Marshall University was created. Turner worked his way through his undergraduate degree, working for The Charleston Gazette, The Herald-Dispatch and The Huntington-Advertiser in the ‘60s. The two-time Marshall graduate received his bachelor’s in journalism in 1967 and his master’s in journalism in 1969.
