HUNTINGTON — The Cabell County Board of Education will swear in its new superintendent and newly elected board members during a scheduled meeting at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Central Office, 2850 5th Ave. According to the agenda, Keith Thomas will take the oath of office as superintendent, while Lauren Hensley and Coy Miller will be sworn in as members of the Board of Education, replacing Mary Neely and Rhonda Smalley.

HUNTINGTON — Voices of the Valley, a barbershop-style singing group, is participating in a new program from the Barbershop Harmony Society called “Music Medics” where they sing to patients at children’s hospitals. Jane Barker, 66, of Lavalette is a member of the Voices of the Valley and organizes the Music Medics program. The Fairland High School star who's signed to run at the United States Naval Academy is The Herald-Dispatch girls athlete of the year in the sport. Dunlap heads the all-area squad after topping two categories locally. Dunlap posted the premier time in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.97, beating runner-up Aleigha Myers of Huntington High by 2.17 seconds.
