DVLA have lost my motorcycle entitlement
#1 I have just received my replacement drivers licence (lost the original) and noticed that my category A motorcycle entitlement is missing. All other categories are present and correct. I telephoned DVLA and was told that they have no record of me ever passing the motorbike test, although they do have records of me passing the two other tests I took! I was eventually told to send a letter explaining everything along with my new licence to them.
Engagement Rings
chrisw Prominent Member #1 I'm thinking of proposing to my other half when we go away to Rome at the end of the month, but have no idea about engagement rings etc. What should I buy, how big it should be (not the carat size, the diameter) and how much I should spend on it. Any tips from those who have been there? #2 The rule is the engagement ring should cost you a months pay if you want to go traditional. That will give you an idea of how much you can play with.
Ten Pound Poms (BBC) Series 2 tbc
Well, what a load of old nonsense this is...thought it would be some interesting lightweight drama in a similar vein to The Durrells or We Bought A Zoo but its just some thinly veiled, overblown, soapy Eastenders/Corrie social justice bullshit in a different setting.
Hancock 2 (TBC)
#1 As rumored last year a sequel was coming. Columbia has hired Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to write Hancock 2. The first film cost $150m, took in over a total off $600m. Peter Berg, director of the superhero movie Hancock, spoke earlier this month about his ideas for a sequel. Spoilers if not see the first movie.

Wedding Video - what to look for?
kBm Distinguished Member #1 Looking at getting a videographer for my wedding next summer - just not sure what to look for? Anyone got any tips? Recommendations? Disasters stories (so i can avoid!) #3 I have never watched my wedding video, in fact nobody I know has watched theirs either...my advice is stick with the photo's and save some cash. The photographs will have enough memories on their own. We'll defuse bombs, walk marathons And take on whatever, together. #4
The Box Of Delights
#1 Now I know it's late and my mind is probably wandering a bit but I was just thinking about how fantastic The Box Of Delights was when I was a kid... I haven't seen it since I was at school in the 80's but for some reason I still remember how good it was... Has anyone seen it a bit more recently who can tell me whether it has withstood the test of time? (it may have done as it was set in the 30's).

Solomon Grundy · Follow 6 min read · -- As the DeFi industry grows, the need for secure, scalable, and user-focused platforms has never been greater. Decentralized Finance, or DeFi, is reshaping the financial landscape by providing decentralized alternatives to traditional banking, lending, and investment services. Yet, with increased adoption, the stakes have also risen, emphasizing the importance of robust security protocols, transparent governance, and a resilient infrastructure.
XBANKING vs. Traditional Finance: How XB Token Bridges the Gap with DeFi Dividends
Solomon Grundy · Follow 7 min read · -- The financial world is undergoing a transformative shift as traditional finance (TradFi) meets decentralized finance (DeFi). Traditional financial systems have long served as pillars for investment, savings, and wealth-building. Yet, they often come with limitations—such as high barriers to entry, delayed returns, limited accessibility, and reduced investor control.

In a desperate attempt to pay off their mounting bar tab, these unlikely heroes end up on a quest to save the realm of Exandria from dark magical forces.
World's Most Dangerous Roads
#3 I've ridden down the death road in Bolivia that was featured in Top Gear a couple of years ago. That is also classed as the worlds most dangerous road. 100 people die each year by falling over the edge. It's a 700 metre drop in parts with no barrier.

How do Goths cope in the summer?
#1 I was wondering how Goths cope in the summer wearing all that black clothing, Is Gothism a growing trend or has it become confined to the past? #2 Didnt you know, they only come out at night? My Rockband 2 progress so far..... Guitar Expert; 449/451 damned caprici diablo Drum Expert; Warmup 40/40, Apprentice 36/36, Solid 51/51, Moderate 133/133, Challenging 78/78, Nightmare 59/60, Impossible 36/53. #3 Gothism is a strange occult. I find that being a Goth is an expression of depression.
The Shield maybe the most complete show ever ?
redwing Prominent Member #1 Just finished watching the last one (im still trying to work out if that is the last one as they still left unfinished business) obviously intentionally to keep us guessing but was still a great way to end. I have to say IMHO i think the shield is the most complete show ever. Every single season was outstanding . I cant say the same for 24 as much as I love it some things/ seasons have really let it down.
How to dispose of old petrol
KyleS1 Outstanding Member #1 I have 1 - 2 liters of unleaded petrol that I use for my lawnmower. Last time I had it serviced, the guy said not to use petrol that had been left to stand all winter due to something to do with crystallisation in the fuel and problems it can cause in the engine of the mower. I have checked with the local waste disposal and they mention that they offer a collection service for this, but it is £40! I'm not paying that for a couple of liters of fuel.
Discussion thread: Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver (Netflix) Movie Review
#1 Read the Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver (Netflix) Movie Review. The out-of-focus-around-the-edges sequel that absolutely nobody sane has been eagerly anticipating lands, with every opportunity to hit the ground running after the introductory first instalment, but also the desire to do a cascade of slo-mo flashback origin stories instead. This is how we make it to SIX films, people.
Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter (Amazon animated) Studio Ghibii (Netflix Live Action 28th March)
#1 Some where Gillian Anderson-narrates “Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter” (not the trailer below it seems) premieres on Jan. 27. Presented by Studio Ghibli, the 26-part animated series tells the story of 10-year old Ronja who discovers that the forest is neither good or bad, but a beautiful and frightening place inhabited by strange creatures.
The Aldi/ Lidl Middle Aisle of Mystery
#1 What are the best/ worst/ most random things you have come across there? I remember last year Aldi were selling wheelbarrow wheels. Friend of mine went in there once to buy some milk and came out with a welding helmet. #2 I cycle helmet with integrated LED light at the back which were originally £14.99 and a picked a couple up when clearance at £3.99!!! Still use and great bike helmets. Didn't need a new helmet but couldn't miss for the quality/price.
Superman (July 11, 2025) directed by James Gunn
#1 Mad Max helmer George Miller is being rumoured for the proper Man of Steel standalone sequel for Warner Bros, they were happy with his work on Fury Road. Miller once was directing the studios' Justice League: Mortals adaptation before it was scrapped. #2 Rumours are that this sequel is on hold indefinitely and George Miller IS in talks with WB about a DC property but it's unknown which one it is at this stage.
Beyond Paradise BBC1
brian s Outstanding Member #1 The Death In Paradise spin off starts on 24/2/23. As Humphrey gets stuck into his new job, he and Martha must also navigate life’s ups and downs, as faces from the past, the decisions they make and challenges of setting up life in a new town put their relationship to the ultimate test www.bbc.co.uk #2 Was just about to post in the Death in thread about whether there was already a on this, since it's about to start. Appears to be one week after Death in ep 7 of 8.
Ballerina (June 6, 2025) John Wick Universe - Directed by Len Wiseman
#1 Lionsgate has won a bidding war to pick up a female-centric spec action script titled Ballerina that will serve as a platform for a possible John Wick spin-off. Ballerina has been described as being in the vein of La Femme Nikita, the 1990s female-centric assassin movie that helped launch the career of filmmaker Luc Besson, but with a more pulpy, hyper-stylized bent a la Quentin Tarantino or Matthew Vaughn.

Batman's 10 Greatest Humiliations In DC Comics
Batman's ability to be prepared for any outcome has become a hallmark - and almost a cliché - of DC Comics. The Dark Knight seems to exist in a perennial state of preparedness. Batman's default setting of always-ready, along with his unparalleled intellect, his skills as a detective, and his unmatched fighting prowess, make him the most dangerous superhero in the DC Universe. However, Batman isn't without his failings.
Am I The Bad Guy Here?
#1 Neighbour has parked these 2 caravans on their driveway. I dont like it. They don't go anywhere and seem to be used as spare rooms when guests come to stay. I want them to take them away. We don't get on too well so I can't discuss it with them. We'll defuse bombs, walk marathons And take on whatever, together.
allotments - first time owner, any hints/tips?
#1 OK not sure AVF is the best place to ask about allotments (will be signing up to a gardening website, any recommendations?) but hey ho... So hopefully we should be getting our very first allotment this afternoon so was just wondering if anyone owns an allotment and has any hints and tips for first time owners. Any mistakes or things you would do different? Also looking for idea's for growing something a little different to the usual carrots, cabbage, etc.
China Should Compensate
#1 I think China should financially compensate the rest of the world for all of the costs associated with the virus. They caused this outbreak through negligence. We'll defuse bombs, walk marathons And take on whatever, together.
Parents Hate Partner
#1 Hi, just after some thoughts pls...my folks hate my partner, severe personality clash and they can't stand being in the same room. They don't even put her name in the Christmas card to me and my kids (from previous relationship). Have any of you experienced this and what do you do to stop it stressing you out at this time of year? We'll defuse bombs, walk marathons And take on whatever, together. #2 Just except the fact they don't get on and don't try to force a relationship.
Always Seem To Be The Bad Guy
#1 Morning...why is it that people can't seem to have a conversation these days and accept when they are messing up? Neighbour hires some guy to come and clean his car and caravan on his driveway. The guy proceeds to Foam everything up and power wash it all over my garden, plants and trees covered in foam and muck and salt from the road. Went out to ask him to spray in the other direction away from my stuff. Asked extremely politely and friendly, no confrontation from my side.
Death In Paradise
#1 Love to know what criteria the latest scripts of 'Death In Paradise' have for the lead character, because it surely can't be an absence of presence as total as that brought to the screen by a Mr Ardal O'Hanlon? Mrs S and I just about suffered through a recent episode -- which seemed to involve John Sessions being paid a doubtless considerable amount of money to go holiday in the Caribbean and turn up to say a few lines -- and even the lizard seemed sick weary and tired of the whole thing.
Can someone unscramble this please?
#1 "I don't think that there's a lot of things that would have happened in my life if my last name wasn't Biden" Is he saying Daddy got him all his success...or that he did it on his own? My brain hurts trying to figure it out. We'll defuse bombs, walk marathons And take on whatever, together. #2 I think he is saying his name got him into places and given opertunities other names would not.
Vinland Saga - Anime and Vikings - Amazing!
#1 Another fantastic anime series on Amazon Prime Historic fiction set in the early 11th century follows a group of mercenary Jomsvikings as they do what Vikings do. Kind of a history lesson as it has real historic figures and gives a real sense of why these people passed into legend. The battle scenes are animated superbly, the story is gripping. This is 10/10 stuff, simply must be seen. Intro below... We'll defuse bombs, walk marathons And take on whatever, together.
Black Lagoon - Another Anime Gem
#1 Hi. I keep discovering superb Anime shows on our streaming services. Black Lagoon is currently on Netflix and it's quite hard to describe. Firstly it deserves its 18 Rating. It's pretty violent and has some mature content which might raise an eyebrow. The story itself though is pretty gripping stuff. Set in the 1990s it follows a group of mercenaries, The Lagoon Company, as they complete hired work, mainly for the Russian Mafia.
Dororo - A hidden Anime gem on Amazon Prime
#1 Just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone who enjoys Anime. This show is absolutely brilliant. A historic tale set in the time of Samurai where a father makes a deal with demons in exchange for more power and good fortune for his clan. The resulting payment being at the cost of his first child who is born without skin, limbs and senses. Obviously the infant is to be abandoned to die...but doesnt because at the moment of birth Buddha also sacrifices part of himself to ensure survival.

Akira (21 May 2021) Directed by Taika Waititi
#1 Yes a live action version, which has been in the pipeline for a while. In the early 1990s, Kodansha Ltd & Sony Pictures where interested in making the film but it stayed in development hell as the projected cost would have been £300 mill. Now Warner have signed on with Kodansha Ltd & had wanted to release it as two live action films in 2009 with Stephen Norrington (writer) and Jon Peters (producer).
Any J Pouchers out there due to "Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's"
#1 Around 5 years ago I was diagnosed with UC (Ulcerative Colitis) Symptoms were passing of blood every time I went for a poo which on average was around 30- 40 times a day (diarrhoea) with massive urgency & no control what's so ever so often ended up having accidents. This lead to me loosing around 4 stone in weight, feeling completely exhausted all of the time & genuinely very worried about my long term health.
Austin Powers 4
#1 Mike Myers has signed on for a fourth Austin Powers film, the last outing was in 2002's 'Goldmember'. Lock up your daughters, there is *hagging to be done Last edited: Aug 7, 2019 #2 Was 'Goldmember' really 9 years ago?!? I've heard a rumour that Daniel Craig may also star in this (Hmmmmmmmm)! You haven't anything to worry about. He hasn't spoken a word in 15 years. Twitter: Gilly1974 (hear my views on goalkeeping and horror!) #3 Mike Myers must be skint.

Tom Cruise Appreciation thread
#1 He does not get mentioned much if at all here, so let me start. Yes he's made some boo boo's regarding his faith in public, and jumping around like a loon on Oprah Winfrey show. But lately he has toned down the preaching, probably a quiet word from his friends and stayed out the limelight. So forget his own beliefs, this is about his movies.

Disappointed with my new car
I recently changed my car for an E Class 220d AMG Line Mercedes and after a couple of months I am disappointed. Firstly, it seems to be an impenetrable mix of buttons and switches, many of which do the same thing.
