“The last draft version of Policy J-500: Academic Freedom was presented to the Senates for information in May 2025. At that time, a number of concerns were raised, including those related to institutional critique and cautions regarding the inclusion of a formal mechanism for adjudicating academic freedom disputes.” That’s the first paragraph of the Academic Policy Committee’s recent memo to senators.
