Over the past year, we’ve been making a lot of changes to the way The Ubyssey works. We’ve invested much more time into sharpening our craft, and recently, our newsroom has been talking about the distance between us and our community. Here’s the problem as we perceive it: we journalists don’t understand how our audiences function, and most of our audiences don’t understand how journalism works. It’s becoming more and more apparent to us that some aren’t even sure what a journalist is.
