POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — As the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission's work came to an end this week, law enforcement officers and first responders were at work in Lakeland, training for an active shooter situation they hope never comes. "There's always ways that we can be better, that we can be faster, that we can prevent these things from happening," said Lakeland Police Sgt. Nicholas Rex, who is also president of the Florida SWAT Association.
