Stella Kennedy’s Biography

Stella Kennedy is a cross-media journalist working for NDR in Kiel, where she reports for TV, radio, and online - and since early 2023, writes a biweekly column that looks at society, politics, and social participation, often with a wink and a sense for the quietly absurd.

Her focus is on constructive journalism: stories that don’t just highlight what’s going wrong, but ask what could go right - and who’s already making it happen. Whether in her reporting or in the documentaries she develops, she’s drawn to the “hidden heroes” of everyday life. People who usually don’t make the headlines but definitely should.

Before joining NDR, she worked as a freelance journalist in Berlin, writing for outlets like taz and Tagesspiegel. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and English Studies from the University of Greifswald and Freie Universität Berlin.
