More than a number: Emily Smith and the story of cow 319

Inspiration comes in many forms. For Emily Smith, it was cow #319 at the Ruminant Animal Centre (RAC) on the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus. Emily, originally from Ontario, knew she wanted to move out of province for school. Smaller class sizes and access to an on-campus farm topped her list. Soon she was enrolled in the Bio-veterinary science program in the Faculty of Agriculture.

A ring that binds: Generations connect at Dal’s Barley Party

As Percy King closed in on the final stretch of his degree at Dalhousie's Faculty of Agriculture, he and his mom, Alicia (Class of '97), hatched an idea for a meaningful moment involving his dad, Danny (Class of '97). During this year's Barley Party, Danny would be presented with a Barley Ring alongside his son. “The idea to surprise my dad with a ring this year came from him losing his first one,” explains Percy.

Dalhousie deepens ties to one of the world's leading veterinary colleges

Dalhousie and one of the world's most renowned specialist universities for veterinary and biomedical sciences recently signed an agreement to deepen their international collaboration. Dalhousie and the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in London, UK signed a Memorandum of Understanding on March 5 that establishes a framework for enhancing areas of collaborations such as academic exchange, research, student mobility, and exploration of veterinary degree pathways.
