Fleas From the Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombat and Other Mammalian Hosts of Australia

1 Introduction All of the available information on the distribution and host relations of Australian fleas as at 1974 was published by Dunnet and Mardon (1974). The only other records of fleas from Australian mammals published since Dunnet and Mardon (1974) are Mardon (1977, 1978a, 1978b, 1981), Mardon and Allison (1978, 1982) and Kwak and Hastriter (2020). The objective of the present paper was to add new records of fleas from Australian mammals to the published record.

Halberg Award finalists revealed, athletics and snow sports dominate

Source: Radio New Zealand The Halberg Foundation unveiled the finalists across six categories, to be announced at its annual awards ceremony in Auckland on 16 February. Of the 32 finalists in the six categories, six each hail from track and field and the snow. High jumper Hamish Kerr and 3000m steeple chaser Geordie Beamish are both included among the five nominees for the men’s award after winning gold medals at the world championships in Tokyo.

1 Introduction The detection and prevention of silicosis, a fibrotic disease of the lung due to inhalation of silica containing dust, are important goals in global occupational health [1, 2]. In addition, the close association between pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and silicosis [3] has resulted in a co-epidemic of silicosis and TB in high TB burden settings where there is substantial occupational exposure to silica [4-6].
