Reporter for my local newspaper as a work placement for two months.

I've used one when I started writing as a kid but not in professional circumstances
How is social media changing news?
Its speeding up delivery but making it difficult to respect accuracy at times. It's also devaluing a lot of it and making it entertainment.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Randomly Michael Keaton's character in The Paper - the movie has dated but his addiction to the job remains familiar.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means being knowledgable, insightful, thoughtful or your audience and overall - honest. Your career is built on trust. Don't lose that!

Why did you become a journalist?
My mates were journos and let me come with them to a few things and I saw that I would be good at it and at talking to people.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Its hard to choose one piece - I like to think whatever I turn my hand to is to be proud of. But James Cameron was pretty cool to meet.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Start by working hard - then work harder. This job isn't easy no matter what you cover.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Whenever someone can get hold of me. I check my emails constantly and try to reply as much as possible or answer my phone when I can.
