Medicare for Nobody
Political pros will remember that a dozen or so years ago, the Democrats produced a famous (or infamous) TV ad showing a man wheeling an elderly lady in a wheelchair up a path to an overlook on a mountain. At the end of the ad, the man pushes the woman out of her chair and off the cliff. The person pushing the wheelchair was a lookalike of Paul Ryan, the then-Republican speaker of the House.
Why are Americans so pessimistic?
In nearly every way, Americans have more material wealth, better health, better housing and more of just about everything than ever before. Not just the rich, but nearly everyone. Americans' standard of living is roughly 50% higher, after inflation, than it was 50 years ago. The median family income is now close to $90,000. That's an income level higher than that of 90% of families living in the rest of the world. These ARE the good old days.

I've always argued that the easiest way for families to gauge the health of the economy is to check the daily gas price. Drivers see the 50-foot-high signs in every community in America. They stare us right in the face. I call it the affordability index. In recent weeks, gas prices have hit $4.50 a gallon nationally, and truckers are paying well over $6 a gallon. That's a bad look with a month to go before midterm elections across the country. These high prices have put consumers in a bad mood.

Al Gore’s Inconvenient Lies
Order Jamie Glazov’s new book, ‘United in Hate: The Left’s Romance with Tyranny, Terror, and Hamas’: HERE. It was 20 years ago that Al Gore’s book “An Inconvenient Truth” was published, and … well, it turns out that the truth was inconvenient — for Al and his band of apocalyptics. I asked my team to use the AI chatbot ChatGPT as a referee in assessing the accuracy of the book’s scary and often-quoted conclusions. It turns out ChatGPT is very diplomatic.

Steve Moore: The IRS went after honest landowners. It's time to end this tax nightmare
The IRS recently did something federal agencies almost never do: admit their approach wasn't working. They conceded that the approach to the Conservation Easement program tax assessments is flawed and often unfair. In a press release last month, the IRS rightly stopped its assault — at least for now — on more than a thousand separate groups nationwide, comprised of about 250,000 individuals, who have participated in land conservation easements.

Reagan Freed Talk Radio From DC Red Tape. It’s Time to Do It Again.
Politics Technology Texas Red News September 18, 2026 / TSPAN P. By Stephen Moore We are quickly approaching the 40th anniversary of President Reagan’s repeal of the so-called Fairness Doctrine, a long-standing policy that prohibited radio stations from presenting arguments without government-mandated “balance.” The administration argued the rule restricted broadcasters’ free speech by making them fear government reprisals and penalties for discussing tough subjects.

The Marriage Deficit Is an Economic Catastrophe
Commentary The Beatles told us: “All you need is love.” They were right, but along with love must come marriage. But marriage rates have plummeted, especially among young men. A Pulitzer Prize-worthy story by Sean Salai of The Washington Times crunches all the numbers. To say they are worrisome would be a vast understatement. — In 2025, nearly twice as many men ages 18 to 39 were unmarried as were married.

Stop the Democrats' Scheme to Pack the Supreme Court
Democrats are in a quandary over the Supreme Court. Every four years, they've warned their voters that electing a Republican president will lead to more conservative Supreme Court justices. And yet since Ronald Reagan's election in 1980 through today, they've lost more presidential elections than they've won. Maybe the voters are telling Democrats something. Maybe Americans don't want the court packed with Sonia Sotomayors who make up or rewrite the laws as they see fit.

Is the USA Going Bankrupt?
Thank God, no, we aren't going bust as a nation, despite our gargantuan $40 trillion national debt. The rapid pileup of debt under Republicans and Democrats alike is certainly a disgrace and worrisome. When I came to Washington in the mid-1980s, our debt hit $1 trillion for the first time. It seemed like a tidal wave of red ink. Forty years later, we're at $40 trillion. That's a big and scary number. But our national wealth is roughly $180 trillion.
STEPHEN MOORE: Data centers aren't just buildings. They are economic engines
The AI buildout is the largest infrastructure project in our history — bigger in real dollars than the railroads, rural electrification, or the interstate highways On November 17, 1863, Abraham Lincoln signed an executive order fixing the eastern terminus of the transcontinental railroad at Council Bluffs, Iowa. A modest town on the Missouri River became Mile Zero of the infrastructure that built industrial America.

What Bank ATMs Teach Us About AI
New inventions and technologies, from the lightbulb to the farm tractor to the automobile to the laptop computer to Uber drivers, cause serious job market disruptions. They also cause a backlash, as horse and buggy operators, cab drivers, video rental stores and typewriter makers inevitably predicted chaos and job losses. Artificial intelligence will make life much better and healthier for most people, but it will bring massive disruptions too.
Steve Moore, Ed Pozzuoli: Stop funding school systems. Let the money follow the child
The Watergate-era maxim still applies today: follow the money. In American education, the question is not how much money is spent, but where the money goes. Does funding follow institutions, or does it follow children? Does it serve adult interests, or truly benefit students? This distinction increasingly explains why some states spend more without producing better results, while others see academic gains by empowering parents with meaningful educational choices. New York City is a striking example.
